New Paintjob or New Fairings/Paint Gas Tank
l recently bought a bike that has been dropped once on each side. I am not
ready yet but at some point l will be considering either 1) Repainting the
whole bike or 2) Getting new fairings and repainting just the gas tank.
Which option would be better and why? The original fairing that are
on the bike now have been repainted poorly on the damaged areas. This will
probably also transfer over if l repaint these damaged fairings l assume.
Nothing super serious but not new looking either.
There is a company on ebay that sells full sets of plastics
brand new. They were very cheap, but the company was from Hong Kong or
something & the shipping was like $280. I added it up & the total was
cheaper than getting factory plastic. They had many different paint jobs.
Mostly variations on factory paint, but they also had racing replica
paint jobs & if you sent them ur designs they would paint it for you.
They were fiberglass, but many sets were also available in abs plastic.
I'd go with repainting, you get to pick the color or graphics
you want and not be like the rest of the bikes out there. invest in some
frame sliders.
If you like the functionality of what you have, just invest in
the Paint job.
Proper planning will deliver the results you seek, even if you paint the
complete bike.
